My first time in Subic Bay I was on my way back to the ship with The Bosun. There was a guy just outside the main gate selling stuff to eat. I heard him yell "Monkey Meat, ver nice, get yu monkeymeat here " I was hungry as heck and knew there was nothing open to get something to eat, so I bought a fistfull. If you have ever saw chicken on a stick then you know what it looked liked. Boats just looked at me as I scarfed the stuff down and then he very calmly asked me "Ever see any monkeys around here ?" I said around a mouthful "sure" Ever see any dogs around ?" No not that I can recall.Well then he says "you figure it out " I foiund out that most dogs were kept under lock and key because they could be sold. Was it any good ?? Dont know, wasnt sober.
